Study Circle on Ignatian Retreat-Giving and Spiritual Direction (Modules 2A and 2B)

Location: CIS Office, Ateneo de Manila University

The Study Circle introduces participants to the nature and dynamics of retreat-giving and spiritual direction in the Ignatian Tradition, both for the individually-directed retreat format and the conference retreat format.

For twelve (12) consecutive Saturdays, Study Circle participants go through lectures/conferences, case studies, real case spiritual direction demonstrations and workshops aimed at providing basic knowledge, skills and dispositions on spiritual direction and retreat-giving.

This course is designed for those who wish to discern the call to ministries of accompaniment:

  •       Prayer Guides and Spiritual Directors
  •       Retreat Directors
  •       Campus or Youth Ministers
  •       Lay and Religious Formators
  •       Seminary Formators
  •       Retreat House Administrators and Guides
  •       Lay Leaders from Christian Renewal Communities

Program Requirements:                                  

1.    Personal Essay (1-2 pages typewritten, double space), on the following:
a.     A description of your spiritual growth or the development of your relationship with God.
b.    Your reasons for wanting to train as a spiritual director/retreat giver.
c.    Programs or process, if any that you have undergone in the past three years that have fostered self-awareness and self-understanding.

2.    Interview by the CIS Program Director.  Interview shall be scheduled upon receipt of application form and personal essay. Phone interview for out of town applicants.

3.    Completed Module 1A (Prayer Workshop) and/or  experienced at least a 5-day individually-directed retreat, or the Retreat in Daily Life - 19th Annotation.  For those without these retreat experiences, a 5-day individually-directed       retreat may be scheduled before Module 2B.

4.    Recommendation from your community leader, superior or institution's head.

Program Payment :

Registration Fee to confirm participation :  30%, upon acceptance into the program.
Full Payment :  70% Balance, on or before the start of Module 2A on August 26, 2017.

Retreat in Daily Life (RDL)

Location: Ateneo de Manila University

CIS-Phil invites people who cannot take days off from home or work but interested to experience the Spiritual Exercises. St. Ignatius adapted the Exercises for people to make a retreat in the midst of their daily life. RDL retreatants commit themselves to a daily prayer period and regularly meet with a Spiritual Director.

RDL for Beginners (18th Annotation)
The Retreat in Daily Life for Beginners is an adaptation of the Spiritual Exercises and most suitable for those who are starting in their spiritual journey and with the desire to deepen their prayer life.  The RDL for Beginners will run for fourteen (14) weeks.

Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life (19th Annotation)
The Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life is for those who experience a compelling desire to know, love, and to pattern their life after Christ.  The SpEx in Daily Life run for 35 weeks.

Who May Apply for a Retreat in Daily Life

  • Able to make a firm commitment to the retreat
  • Able to allocate time for formal prayer of 30 minutes to one (1) hour daily
  • Willingness to pray the suggested prayer materials of the retreat
  • Willing to reflect on and journal their prayer experiences and to share the fruits of their prayer with the retreat guide
  • Willing to be guided by a competent lay or religious retreat guide

Pre-retreat interviews will be scheduled after submission of application forms.

Program Cost: 

Php 7,300.00 (RDL for Beginners, 14 weeks)       
Php 11,300.00 (Spiritual Exercises RDL, 35 weeks)

Program cost covers retreat materials, stipends for retreat guides, as well as expenses for the prayer workshops and recollections.
-          30% non-refundable deposit upon acceptance to confirm participation in the program. 
-          40% payable at the Launch of Retreat in Daily Life on September 3, 2017
-          Remaining balance 30% payable on or before the Prayer Workshop on October 1, 2017

Enkindling the Fire Within

Location:

Made for catechists, extra-ordinary ministers of Holy Communion, lectors, psalmists, and church choir members - or those who help bring the Gospel alongside their pastors.  Following the Gospel narrative "Walk to Emmaus", the retreat will help these individuals reflect on their vocation of assisting the church in its evangelical mission.

Location:

A weekend retreat for persons who have lost a loved one.  Grieving the loss of a loved one is one of life's experiences which border on the Sacred.  The days of quiet prayer and witnessing can be an opportunity for mourners to bring their experience of grief and recovery before our Lord with the help of Our Lady.

The Center for Ignatian Spirituality (CIS Phil) invites you to come away and experience individually guided days of prayer based on the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola in this solemn Holy Week Retreat.  A major highlight of this retreat is the rich liturgy of the Paschal Triduum presided over by the Jesuit fathers of Sacred Heart Novitiate.
