IDENTITY AND PURPOSE (VISION)

The Center for Ignatian Spirituality - Philippines (CIS Philippines) aims to be a resource, training, network and renewal center for those who aspire to deepen their faith life in the light of Ignatian Spirituality and for those who sense a call to accompany others in their spiritual journey. CIS shares the gifts of the Spiritual Exercises and Ignatian Spirituality through spiritual direction, retreats, workshops, conferences, supervised retreat-giving experiences, and courses for retreat givers and spiritual directors in partnership with the Loyola School of Theology.

MISSION

From its beginnings, the Center for Ignatian Spirituality-Philippines saw as its mission the formation and training of ministers and agents of Ignatian sprituality. We also desire to help animate and network Ignatian-inspired institutions and ministries in the Philippines and the Asia-Paciic, always seeking to promote the better practice of Ignatian Spirituality in their personal, community, and institutional life.

CORE VALUES

  1. God is Foundation and Ministry. We constantly center our life and work on Jesus Christ. We align ourselves and work to the teaching of the Catholic Church.
  2. Ignatian Way of Proceeding. Ignatian spirituality is the privileged way we have encountered God through our experience of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius. Through the Ignatian tradition, we constantly seek the Sacred in human experience and focus on these human experiences as our points of encounter for a formation that aims at greater spiritual and intellectual depth as welll as sensitivity and responsiveness to the world, creation, and the people around us, especially the poor.
  3. Contemplative Disposition and Reverent Accompaniment.  We give primacy and attentiveness to iner disposition that looks lovingly at the people sent and entrusted to us for companioning.  Following how God has accompanied us in our healing and maturing into discipleship, we practice and promote a kind of accompaniment that is reverent, honest, gentle, contemplative, and compassionate.
  4. Collaborative Ministry within Jesuit Mission. In generous response to God's call, we offer our services in collaboration with Jesuit mission in the Philippines as articulated by the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus as well as the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific, and as a response to the needs of the Church and society.
  5. Integrity in Ministry.  We are governed by high ethical standards in our ministries.  Out of deep regard for people entrusted to our care, we take serious responsibility for our ongoing formation and for nurturing the spiritual depth, psychological maturity, and personal wellness required for smooth, competent, and profound professional service as spiritual directors and spiritual guides.
